Box Office Battle: 'Frozen II' sets more records over holiday weekend

"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.

WEEKEND WINNER: After an opening weekend that beat all expectations and set more than one record, Disney's (DIS) animated sequel "Frozen II" earned an estimated $85.2M over three days and $123.7M over five days in its second weekend at theaters -- the largest three and five-day grosses ever over Thanksgiving weekend. "Frozen II" has now grossed over $287M domestically and over $738M globally in less than two full weeks.

BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: Lionsgate's (LGF.A, LGF.B) murder mystery "Knives Out," directed by Rian Johnson and starring an ensemble cast including Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, and Jamie Lee Curtis, opened in second place, with an estimated $41.7M over the five day weekend, which made the film the sixteenth largest Thanksgiving opener of all time.
